Winter Hiking in Oberallgäu

Allgäu is also a walkers' paradise in winter!

On foot through the wonderful snow-covered mountain landscape - the Allgäu Alps in view, taking in the fresh winter air.
Around the Hörnerdörfer peak there are over 50 km of cleared and maintained winter walking trails.
Both high-level trails are particular highlights. One of the two Hörnerdörfer cable cars will take you up to around 1,500 m. From there you have unique views and will definitely remember this day for a long time.
You'll be particularly impressed by the fantastic views of the extensive Allgäu mountain ranges when the weather on the top is clear, but misty in the valley.
You can of course enjoy the fresh air in the other 'Hörnerdörfer' as well, for example as offered by the path to the Schöllanger Chapel, the circuit through Tiefenberger Moos or the path to Mittelalpe.

Söllereck Summit Station to Riezlern

From the summit station of the Söllereck cable car there is first a short and rather gentle climb (10-15 minutes) to Alpe Schrattenwang. Here you can either, first of all, take a break and enjoy the wonderful view, or continue on the path to Riezlern. After a short and level forested section, you reach the border with Austria, and from here follow the path which continually descends through lush meadows, enjoying the wonderful views towards Kleinwalsertal.
After following the wide path for about 1 hour at roughly the same level, it then becomes narrower and steeper, winding down towards the valley. Then it passes through forest one again, passing Mittel-Alpe and Bergstüble, which offer opportunities for another freshment break, down to Riezlern.
From here you can take the 'Walserbus' back towards Oberstdorf, leaving the bus at the Söllereck cable car station.

High-Level Trail on
Hoher Ifen

You can enjoy the Alpine winter to the full on this fantastic circular walk through the snow dunes.
By chairlift up to the summit station. From here you just need to follow the footpath signs for the "Winter-Rundwanderweg" circular route. After just a few metres you will be able to enjoy the fantastic view of the valley, which will be with you all the time from then onwards. Incidentally, this winter walking trail is the highest located footpath (2000 metres) that is accessible by cable car.
The route takes you 5 km into an impressive icy winter landscape.
