Ideas for Leisure Activities & Places of Interest in the Region
Allgäu - a great place for active holidays for adults, for children and for the young at heart:
Summer tobogganing, pony riding, the 'Hörni' Children's Club during the summer school holidays, a visit to 'Sturmannshöhle' caves, Breitach gorge or the starting tower of the ski-jump at Oberstdorf, or, or…
The Alpsee Coaster is Germany's longest toboggan run that is open all year and in almost all weathers. The run is almost 3,000 metres long from the summit station of the chairlift down into the valley. On the way down, 68 curves, 23 waves, 7 Jumps and 4 bridges, as well as a 430-degree elevated spiral guarantee maximum fun. Passengers are able to determine their own speed. The thrilling and rapid descent takes between 5 and 10 minutes.
Allgäu Alpine Course for Archers
The range is open daily during the summer months whilst the Hörner cable car is in operation. The Hörner gondola cable car will take you conveniently to the middle station. The target area of the 3D Archery Range is about a 15-minute walk. Experienced archers regard the Alpine Range as challenging and varied.
Discover and get to know the Hörnerdörfer area in a very special and cool way, by gliding on two wheels through the wonderful landscape against a fantastic Alpine backdrop. A short briefing session, and away we go... passing streams and woods; and, underway, you'll also learn about your holiday region.
Visit Germany's oldest family run brewery in Rettenberg. Do you know, for example, what gives beer its head and where the alcohol comes from? Discover this and much more about the art and craft of brewing beer. In addition to an informative guided tour of the brewery, there is also a Zwickelbeer tasting and, to finish, an authentic beer tasting with pretzels.
What is Disc Golf? Disc golf is above all great FUN. As with normal golf there is place for 'teeing off' and a fairway - but instead of golf balls there is a Frisbee, and a large basket is the 'hole' on the green. A total of 14 lanes are incorporated into the mountain landscape and the fantastic view of the Allgäu Alps comes free of charge as a reward! Incidentally, the trip down to the valley is fantastic fun on a downhill scooter, which can be hired from the summit station of the Weltcup-Express.
The coolness of the wild water makes 'Breitachklamm' a truly refreshing experience on warm summer days. In winter, however, the gorge near Obertsdorf is transformed into a fairy-tale landscape of snow and ice. You will be fascinated by the glittering icicles, mighty walls of ice, frozen waterfalls and mysterious caves. The Breitach Gorge, which in summer is characterised by movement and noise, becomes a bizarre and glittering frozen winter landscape. Experience this winter wonderland with guided torch-light evening walk in 'Breitachklamm' - an unforgettable experience!
