Due to its proximity to Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein there are many opportunities for excursions from Fischen.
Lake Constance (Bodensee)
The nearby 'Bodensee' (approx. 1 hour by car) is particularly attractive in summer, with wonderful orchards, boat trips on the lake and the famous 'Flower Island' of Mainau. You can also, for example, explore the lake by bicycle.
Königswinkel (about 45 minutes drive away) is situated in East Allgäu around the town of Füssen - famous for its royal castles at Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, and many others.
Allgäu Lake District
The communities of Schwangau and Pfronten, as well as the lakes at Hopfensee, Weissensee, Alpsee and Forggensee, offer many interesting leisure opportunities and wonderful unspoilt nature.
Legoland Germany is an experience for the whole family. The driving time to Günzburg is about 1.5 hours, as is an excursion to Munich, Bavaria's state capital, Innsbruck, Zurich or Vaduz in Liechtenstein.
A visit over to the Lech Valley, with its famous towns of Lech am Arlberg and Warth, is a full-day excursion.
Via the Hochtannberg pass, you descend into the valley towards Bregenz; before returning to Oberallgäu once again via Oberstaufen.
'Zugspitz' Area in Tyrol
It's about 70 min. by car via the Tannheim Valley to the 'Zugspitz' area around Lermoos and Ehrwald. From here, don't miss taking a trip up Germany's highest mountain and enjoy the views over the Alps.
